Good thoughts from my Wellness Coach Joelle….
How often have you found yourself thinking depressing thoughts, belittling attempts at improving yourself, judging your actions, or letting the negative self-talk convince you that you aren’t worth anything, or why bother??
You aren’t alone, though saying that doesn’t make it any better. The reason people need ‘outside’ help, like a coach, is because they often don’t see the greatness in themself, and have not been trained to focus on this. But it possible, and those thoughts aren’t true. Really.
Is it conditioning, perfection, expectations that get in the way? And can we learn to move beyond, and really acknowledge the wonderful person that we are? Absolutely, it just takes practice, training, knowledge, and a belief in you! And sometimes someone to lean on until you stand firmly on your own…
Hi y’all! I’m a deep-fried Southern girl, born and raised in North Carolina. I’ve recently relocated to Boulder, Colorado and I am determined to adopt the healthy lifestyle of the people around me! It’s time for a real shift in my lifestyle – a paradigm shift that will create new habits and result in a thinner, happier, and hopefully better, Sara. A Sara 100 pounds lighter than I was when I started! Hope you decide to come along for the ride.
Wow – deep stuff to ponder. I know few people who hold themselves in high regard in a regular basis. I try to say positive things about myself, but also fall short most of the time and revert back to old patterns. I think you’re on to something with the negative conditioning. Experts say that what we’re told as young children greatly affects the beliefs we have about ourselves as adults. Louise Hay is a terrific inspiration for developing positive thoughts/self-image. I think her book is titled, “You can heal your life.” She advises that every time you walk by a mirror, you stop, look at yourself, and say, “(insert your name), I love you.” Sounds corny, but it seems to work.
